Heinrich Baethge was born in Mascherode, near Brunswick, in 1814, emigrated to the United States with his wife and their two children in 1854, and settled in Texas, where he farmed until his death in 1888.

Johann Heinrich Ludwig Baethge was born in 1814 in Mascherode, near the town of Brunswick. He labored as a farmer and a mill worker and married  Sophie Christine Conradine Pape in 1846. In 1854 they emigrated from Germany with their two children, Johann and Dorothea, and settled in Texas. They had two additional children in Texas, Heinrich and Conradine. Heinrich Baethge and his wife Conradine both died in 1888.
