The German Historical Institute, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Berkeley, California, is a center for advanced studies in German, American, and transatlantic history. Established in 1989, its current research emphases are the history of migration, the history of knowledge, and digital history.

Max Weber Stiftung
The Max Weber Stiftung is one of the lead supporters of German research in the humanities abroad. Around the world it finances eleven independent institutes, including the German Historical Institute of Washington, which serve as intermediaries between scholars in their host nations and in Germany and play an important role in the international research scene.
Wunderbar Together
Wunderbar Together is an initative of the German Federal Foreign Office celebrating the close ties between Germany and the United States. Since 2018 Wunderbar Together has provided funding for the "Mobile Lifeworlds" pilot project "German Heritage in Letters."
