Windsheim, 27 August 1925

My Dear John,
Many thanks for you last letter that we received on August 25. We have awaited news from you for some time. It pleases us all to hear that things are going well for you. Are you being open with us in your letters? Hopefully yes. Dear son, you always write about how well things are going for you. You even say things are going very well. I want to believe you. If however, this is not the case, speak up and tell us. I wish from my heart that you are doing well. My one wish is that everything goes very well for you, and that I will see you once again.

The second town homecoming festival took place over the last few days. Many former Windsheimers attended. The festival was nicely organized. There are many former Windsheimers, some even from your country. I spoke with a few Americans, one was a lady from Chicago. All said that if you perform well, you will never fail. You are likely making low wages right now, but several told me that this is just temporary. Please let me know the address of the firm you work for.

Pfister was here on Saturday and Sunday. He told me that he received a letter from you last Tuesday.

Things are going well enough for us here, thank God. I also sent you newspapers last week. I will send more later.

The next town homecoming festival will take place in 1930. It would be nice to take advantage of this opportunity to see each other again., God willing.

Dear Hans, prepare yourself for the upcoming winter. Buy warm clothing - shirts, underwear, socks, etc. Don’t worry about spending money for these things. It will be to your benefit.

Now, heartfelt greetings from your father. And I almost forgot - best wishes for your upcoming birthday.

Be good,
Love God!
Do what is right! Fear no one!
